Meet Board Member Randi Johnson

What made you want to get involved with MothersEsquire?

My family moved to Spokane from Seattle when my first daughter was three months old. I found that the job market was lacking but I started doing contract work for big law while my daughter was napping or after she went to sleep. I didn’t have any support as a mom lawyer. I realized it would be nice to have community and mentorship to make me feel less alone in raising a daughter while being a lawyer, so I decided to join MothersEsquire.

What do you do? I’m the chief engagement officer at Gravis Law. My job is a hybrid between communications and chief marketing officer. I’m also the managing attorney for several of our offices. My primary practice area is federal disability benefits and special needs estate planning. I’ve been with Gravis since October 2020, before that, I ran my own firm for eight years.

How many kids do you have? I have two girls ages 12 and 9.

Where do you live? Spokane, Washington.

Who inspires you? Sarah Blakely, the founder of Spanx. I find her fascinating and love what she shares about family life and how she balances her career and making time for herself. I’m drawn to fiercely independent women who know what their joy is and make no excuses when going after it.

What advice do you have for women entering the legal field? Don’t hide, just be your authentic self. I don’t try to fit in, I just bring myself. That’s the best role modeling you can do for the next generation.

What’s a fun fact about you? I’m a certified death doula. I also took up triathlons in 2023 and have competed in three so far.
